The Dramatic Excellence of Dirk Bogarde in The Servant

Presenting the poster and trailer for The Servant, the Outstandingly Excellent 1963 British drama starring Dirk Bogarde, born Derek Jules Gaspard Ulric Niven van den Bogaerde (awarded Best Actor by BAFTA) as Barrett, a seemingly dedicated manservant hired by dim-witted playboy Tony (played by James Fox). As Barrett earns his master’s trust, he plots to take control of Tony’s affairs, and soon, the servant becomes the master. Written by His Excellency playwright Harold Pinter, based in the 1948 novel by Robin Maugham, born Robert Cecil Romer Maugham, 2nd Viscount Maugham of Hartfield, directed by Joseph Losey. Also starring Sarah Miles and Wendy Craig.
