Flipping through the catalogue for Mario Testino: Kate Who?, an exhibition of iconic works by Mario Testino at Phillips de Pury & Company and The Saatchi Gallery, featuring intimate photographs of Kate Moss, fashion legend, taken by the ultimate fashion photographer, opening July 21, 2010 in London.
Presenting His Excellency Michael Clark, legendary Scottish dancer and choreographer (called a “true iconoclast” by London’s Independent on Sunday newspaper), collaborator with Bodymap, Leigh Bowery, Hussein Chalayan, The Fall, among others, founder of The Michael Clark Company, soon to direct Baryshnimoss, a short ballet film starring Mikhail Baryshnikov, and model Kate Moss (heretofore unknown as a prima ballerina and currently in study with Clark). “In Michael’s eye as a film-maker, the movement of the camera dances already by itself, ” said a member of Clark’s production team. “It will be an extremely interesting collaboration”. The movie “will be shown at some sort of fund-raiser but if anything it will go into a gallery where everybody can see it. I think that is how Michael sees it.”
Applauding the Excellent PR surrounding the Fall/Winter 2010 collection of Hakaan, 37-year-old, formerly obscure, now world famous, Istanbul and London-based designer, awarded First Prize at the Young Fashion Designers Contest organized by the Istanbul Textile and Apparel Exporter Associations while still at university, recently discovered by Mert Alas, one half of top photo duo Matt & Marcus. Presented on Friday, February 19, 2010, Day 1 of London Fashion Week, the show was styled by Edward Enninful of American Vogue, with looks worn by supermodels Lara Stone, Natalia Vodianova, Natasha Poly, Rose Cordero, and Anje Rubik, and attended by Kate Moss and Carine Roiffeld of Vogue Paris, who flew direct from New York Fashion Week just for the occasion, which featured, according the Elle UK, “bottom-skimming wool bandage dresses, ostrich-feathered skirts and lots of ways with leather; from ribbed trousers to slashed coats, all in a limited palette of white, black and camel.” Says Rifat Ozbek, legendary Turkish designer, who witnessed (and was instantly impressed by) that winning student show of Hakaan (last name Yildirim) : “A new star is born.” Full collection slideshow at ELLEUK.com.
